Maintains information technology strategies by managing staff; researching and implementing technological strategic solutions. A professional who handles and manages all computer work projects and activities within AFD Petroleum Ltd. A main function of the IT Manager is protecting their organization’s IT systems from information leaks, malware, spyware and any similar problem which may come up. They work closely with the top executives to plan the organization’s security policy and help enforce and promote a security culture at every work level. They are to devise the company’s IT strategy and ensure that all systems necessary to support its operations and objectives are in place, adding the maximum value to AFD to facilitate the success of our business. The IT manager will help the Sr. Systems Analyst make sure their suggestions turn into projects and get implemented accordingly by their assigned team. They will require excellent management skills, as well as a strong understanding of business strategy.
Plan, develop and manage all IT services, programs and support throughout the company.
Accomplishes information technology staff results by communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results; coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; initiating, coordinating, and enforcing systems, policies, and procedures
Maintains staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees; maintaining a safe and secure work environment; developing personal growth opportunities
Maintains organization’s effectiveness and efficiency by defining, delivering, and supporting strategic plans for implementing information technologies
Assist senior management with the direction and facilitation of IT strategic and tactical planning.
Directs technological research by studying organization goals, strategies, practices, and user projects
Oversee projects for IT-related undertakings, including clear capture of business requirements, provisions of functional deliverables, milestone planning, and project post mortems.
Verifies application results by conducting system audits of technologies implemented
Preserves assets by implementing disaster recovery and back-up procedures and information security and control structures
Recommends information technology strategies, policies, and procedures by evaluating organization outcomes; identifying problems; evaluating trends; anticipating requirements
Accomplishes financial objectives by forecasting requirements; preparing an annual budget; scheduling expenditures; analyzing variances; initiating corrective action
Run weekly reports for Senior management meeting (Project status updates and helpdesk KPI’s)
Run weekly IT meeting (Helpdesk KPI’s and Information sharing)
Setup robust staff training and onboarding for all IT systems. Develop IT trainers in all departments
Act as liaison between IT staff and Directors, understanding the needs of both.
Continually review department processes to help identify efficiencies
Ensure regular contact with all divisions.
Inspire other departments on innovation and new tech to help push AFD forward with efficiency in tech.
Liaise with Octane for regular utilization of local Octane staff to assist with training and documentation to help lighten the load of Senior Business Analyst and the team.
Maintains quality service by establishing and enforcing organization standards
Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; benchmarking state-of-the-art practices; participating in professional societies.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
5-10 years’ experience in an IT setting
5 years in a supervisory or management capacity
Post-Secondary related degree or Diploma in Information Technology considered an asset
Information Technology (IT) Managers are responsible for planning, coordinating and overseeing the computer-related projects and tasks within the organization they work for, as well as directly managing the IT department personnel.
WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works in an office/field setting. There may be a need to attend to situations on work sites.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands and fingers to handle, feel, or operate objects, tools or controls, and reach with hands and arms. Exposure to noise, dust, odors, fumes and oils may occur. The employee is frequently required to stand, talk and listen.
POSITION TYPE/EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK
This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Some overtime and after hours’ work may be required.
