JOB SUMMARY

The Lubricant & Specialty Products Manager is responsible for generating growth and development of AFD’s proprietary lubricant brand (AWARD Lubricants) in all territories and industries AFD services. Responsible for establishing a strong market share and brand positioning. The Lubricant & Specialty Products Manager will accomplish effective sales strategies by comprehensive oversight through strong leadership and decision-making skills.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS  

  • Prospects new and profitable lubricant business through cold calling, networking, internal and external leads, existing customers, and other associated methods following the companies B.E.E.S. guidelines
  • Promotes product range providing solutions to customers lubricant requirements
  • Consolidates existing fuel customers with a view on lubricant sales and profitability
  • Gathers information on lubricant markets, identifies competitors and their strategy, products, prices, services offered, etc. and advises the President on a regular basis.
  • Proposes technical and commercial solutions to meet customer’s needs.
  • Ventures new business: a minimum 50% of visits should be done on prospection
  • Makes presentations on technical solutions for targeted customers/audience.
  • Remain knowledgeable with latest lubricant trends, product/technical developments, and certifications.
  • Develop and propose customer solutions utilizing our vast product and service offerings
  • Communicate and mentor non-lubricant AFD sales to drive lubricant sales
  • Effectively communicate with regional territory managers regarding lubricant customers within the respective regions
  • Assist in the creation of a customer value file program
  • Ability to suggest product crossovers by brand
  • Effectively communicate with regional territory managers regarding lubricant customers within the respective regions
  • Source and develop products
  • Ensure compliance with AFD’s standards for cost control, waste reduction, quality, safety, and on-time delivery.
  • Negotiate purchasing & vendor prices
  • Assist account receivables when required in reconciliation of timely lubricant accounts
  • Respond to and deal with customer communications including email, fax, walk-in customers, and telephone.
  • Provide quote information for business development
  • Arrange for failure analysis investigations and providing a report containing root cause, corrective action, prevention methods.
  • Recruit and train staff with assistance from Human Resources
  • Monitor the performance and progress of staff.
  • Motivate, organize, and encourage teamwork within the workforce to ensure set productivity targets are met.
  • Set product pricing structure to maximize profitably within each territory and industry market
  • Add new products to the AWARD line
  • Manage and develop quality control systems that fosters quality consciousness in the employee and customer satisfaction
  • Develop, implement, and enforce policies and procedures that promote safety and efficiencies
  • Enforce strict control over inventory levels to meet internal and external demand of product.
  • Assess the need for, and arrange the purchase of, lubricant storage systems, transport, and warehouse equipment.

Project Management

  • Maintain and adjust budgeted revenue expectations.
  • Complete various sales reports.
  • Manage corporate customer bidding requirements
  • Liaison with customer from start to finish of implementation
  • Liaison with sales team regarding corporate customers
  • Ensure compliance with AFD’s standards for cost control, waste reduction, quality, safety, and on-time delivery.

OTHER KEY SKILLS (or product knowledge)

  • Strong knowledge of SCM systems, as well as Microsoft Office products, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

EXPEREINCE

  • 3 – 5 years of direct work experience in lubricant sales, product development, support, and private label supply management.
