8 December 2016 — AFD Petroleum
Alberta has introduced the Alberta carbon levy under the Climate Leadership Act with an effective date of January 1, 2017. The Climate Leadership Regulation as well as numerous publications by the Alberta Treasury Board, was issued on November 3, 2016. Based on our review of all the available information, we will be required to charge and collect Alberta Carbon Levy with respect to supplies made in Alberta unless we are provided with appropriate exemption certificate or license. As such, effective January 1, 2017, unless we have received an exemption license or certificate from you, we will be required to charge the Alberta carbon levy.
Information with respect to the Alberta carbon levy may be found here:
If you require further information or need assistance to determine what exemption is available to your business, please reach out to your companies’ tax advisor.
In preparation for the Carbon Levy, over the month of December 2016, you may start to see the Carbon Tax on your Alberta invoices, this will have a zero rate until January 1, 2017.
If you would like to request any additional fuel deliveries in December 2016, before the Carbon Tax pricing is effective on January 1, 2017, please contact your AFD representative or Edmontondispatch@afdpetroleum.com.
